The digital awareness campaign starts with sending Shelton State’s message to a strategically designed target audience of higher education intent (parents, seniors) located in Pickens County, Tuscaloosa County, Hale County and Bibb County.

To define our higher education intent audience, we take into account:

  • Exclusive, first-party data (information collected by AL.com and affiliates that looks at what a user is reading, commenting on, and where they are located)
  • We combine this with third-party data (information from outside data sources such as purchase behavior, household income, employment, etc.)

Extended Reach Display

Ads were delivered to same target group on an extended network with creative focusing on the high quality education provided by the college as well as dual enrollment programs.

Social Media Marketing

Snap, Facebook and Instagram were utilized to reach potential students within the defined geographic area. The creative was focused on the high quality education provided by the college as well as dual enrollment programs.

Paid Search (SEM)

Ads were delivered to those who were actively searching for educational programs offered by Shelton State on Google and Bing.

RESULTS

Through constant monitoring, ongoing campaign optimization, and regular face-to-face meetings to discuss campaign performance and evolving short-term and long-term goals, the campaign was able to achieve the following:

  • The campaign generated over 10,000 clicks in the month of August.

  • Overall impression share for paid search in August was 22.6%, up 3.5% from July 2024.

  • Click through rate of display campaigns (.22%, .47%) performed higher than the industry benchmarks of .07% and .08% respectively.

  • SSCC has reported a 6% increase in enrollment.
